The mobile library came to our school today! We had the chance to visit it and choose books which we would like to read. It was very exciting as this was our first time using the mobile library and there were so many lovely books to choose from.. It will be back at the end of October to collect the books we borrowed today, and we will be able to choose new ones!
We have been talking a lot about how to make our classroom and our school a happy place this year. We used this as the theme for our group artwork last week, as we designed pictures to represent the phrase, 'Kind hands, kind feet and kind words'. We worked very well in our groups as we shared our ideas and made the plan for our artwork. We also continued to practice mixing primary colours to make secondary ones.
This week was Irish Sign Language Awareness Week. Each day we learned a new phrase and have been using them in our classroom. We learned how to sign 'please', 'thank you', 'sorry', 'can I help you?' and 'I don't understand'.
Check out the website here, for each of the signs.
We have been learning about primary and secondary colours. In our art lesson last week, we mixed paint to make new colours and created some lovely pieces of art. Check them out!
We have been very busy in our classroom over the past few weeks. We have been getting to know each other, with the theme of the month focusing on 'myself'. We created our own timelines, we have been learning about our bodies, we made a self-portrait and even made our names in a mosaic style!
We have been working hard on our maths. We have been learning to combine sets to make a certain number. We even used our shoes this morning to make our sums!
