Every week, we continue to learn new Jolly Phonics sounds. We have almost finished learning all of our single sounds, and will then move on to learning the digraphs (2-letter sounds).
We practice all of our sounds every day, either as a whole-class, or in small groups with our support teachers. We practice blending our sounds together to read words, and we love to spell some simple words, using our magnetic letters.

We have been learning about 2-D shapes this month. We have learned the names of 4 shapes - square, rectangle, triangle and circle. We learned the difference between the shapes, focusing on how many sides each one has. We made the shapes using matchsticks and Play-doh, we drew the shapes, we went on a shape hunt around the school and we played lots of games. We even had to find our shapes during Play Rota, as they were hidden in the sand box!
Last week, one of our Play Rota areas was art. We practiced printing, using sponges and rollers - it was pretty messy, but lots of fun!
