Length
We have been learning about length.
We used rulers and meter tapes to measure different items in our classroom. | We used a trundle wheel to measure various areas of our school campus. |
The Stone Age
We have learning all about the Stone Age. We turned our tables on their side so we could image we were drawing on walls just like they did in the Stone Age.
Happy New Year
We designed calendars for the New Year. We put in some important dates including birthdays.

In December, we have been learning all about light! We learned that when an opaque object blocks out light, it makes a shadow! We practised making shadows using torches and some classroom objects.
We discovered that if an object is translucent or transparent, it makes a very faint shadow or no shadow at all!
In December, we learned lots about China, one of the biggest countries in the world! We learned how to say 'Hello' in Chinese Mandarin, we learned about the Great Wall of China, we learned about Chinese culture and we made some beautiful Chinese dragons!
In the beginning, we had to make a plan. We listed the body parts we needed to make, and explored all of our recycled materials to see how we could make them. It was really tricky , we had to rely on our imaginations in the beginning. It was so important that we worked as a team and found ways to co-operate and compromise.
Then we stuck everything together and painted them. We had to be really careful and use lots of glue and tape so our dragons would be strong. Check back in a few days to see them finished!
We tried to solve some tricky tangram puzzles! In the beginning we thought they would be easy, but it proved difficult to try and fit all of the shapes onto the square. We had to make sure there were no overlaps or gaps. We felt so happy when we solved them!
