This month we are learning all about the Post Office. As part of your child’s home learning this week, I am asking you to sit with your child and write a letter to a friend or family member. Your child may write the entire letter, or you may act as scribe and write most of it for them. Do take care with letter formation!
Your child will learn about the format of a letter (date, Dear ___, From ___) and about the types of things people usually write about in letters. A trip to the post office to buy a stamp and post the letter would be particularly valuable, if you can find the time. Then your child might even receive a reply from the person they have posted it to!
If English is not the first language in your home, please feel free to write the letter in your own language. It would be nice to allow your child to write a small amount in English too, as your child is likely not familiar with reading or writing in your first language.
Good luck, and enjoy!
