Winter is officially here! We were in the middle of our maths lesson this morning when it started to snow! So so exciting!! We just had to drop everything and go outside...... maths can wait!!
Unfortunately we had to come at some stage even though most of class still wanted to be outside!

We have been promoting 'Healthy Living Week' in our school and what an amazing week we've had. We learned all about what different foods to eat and activities to do to keep our bodies and mind healthy. Our class turned into a mini kitchen for the week! We stored all the fruit and vegetables kindly donated to us by our families and friends on our 'Healthy Living Week' table and each day we discussed the different foods and got to eat them at snack time. Some of the children tried foods they had never tried before and came back for seconds! We also made soups, hummus, smoothies, parsnip crisps and potato crisps. It was such a lovely learning experience to have the children discuss words such as taste, spice, herbs, flavour, texture and aromas.

We also practiced 'Mindfulness' in the class each day. It was a great way to have the children relax and experience some quite time from the usual busy active day of Senior Infants!
Linda was busy all week peeling and chopping vegetables for our soup. I think she is glad 'Healthy Living Week' is over!
