Here are some pictures of us using Play Doh to learn about and understand fractions. Fractions are part of our every day life - every time you make a sandwich and cut it in two you are halving it. If you have a pizza or cake and share it between 8 people everyone gets 1/8th. A bar of Dairy Milk chocolate is divided into 8 equal parts. A football match has two equal halves of time. Time can be broken down in to 1/4 past, 1/2 past and 1/4 to the hour.
This week we have been learning more about 'Lines and Angles'. We can now identify - horizontal, vertical and parallel lines. We also focused on right angles. We made shapes, houses, buildings and all sort of things using lollipop sticks.
We put little dots to identify the right angels of our lollipop creations!
We have been learning about Early Christian Ireland in history and we created a representation of one of the features of a monastic settlement out of clay - An Oratory. An Oratory is a Bee-hive shaped structure church or chapel. Check out the pictures of us molding, shaping and adding detail to our Oratories.
