There was much excitement as the new school wing was opened and we moved into our new classroom. In the morning of the opening we said goodbye to our old classroom. There was so much space there that we were able to play some games. Afterwards we went to the opening ceremony where Caitríona thanked all those people who helped in making the new school wing a reality. With Ava and Dylan's help she cut the ribbon and we got to go in and explore. To end a busy day we even had a disco which the parents association organised for us.
This week we went on another nature walk. We looked at the changes that had occurred since our first nature walk. We discussed and investigated where different animals might live. Then we created some nature pictures using the items that were available to us in the park.
This we investigate the properties of clay. We will be looking at different techniques to attach pieces of clay together.
This week we had a visit from the Happy Philharmonic. They entertained us in Jenna's classroom. They showed us lots of different instruments and took us a musical journey, playing music from lots of different countries and cultures. We were inspired to play some music in our own classroom afterwards.
We had a visit from Katie from the Road Safety Authority. She talked with us about how to be safe on the road.
We had lots of fun doing various experiments for Science Week. The balloon rockets were a particular favourite. We discussed what was happening that made balloons propel along the guide and talked about other things in our daily lives that are pressurised.
This month in the Socio-dramatic area of our play rota we have setup a Veterinary surgery. We had lots of fun playing the different roles of Vet, Receptionist and Customer. Lots of animals were treated and cared for.
