Yesterday we had a very special visitor to our classroom for a Learn Together lesson, as Abdulrahman's mum, Abiola, came to tell us all about Ramadan. She brought in some great objects for us to have a look at and we really learned a lot from her visit!
We were delighted to have a visit from some of the students in 3rd class, who showed us the fantastic projects they have been working on as part of their Home Learning Enrichment Programme. They had created new playground games, model houses and animals, books of poetry and stories and even a model of the solar system... we were all very impressed!
We had a fantastic day on Friday at our Sports Day!
The whole school walked to St. Mary's GAA pitch, where all of the wonderful activities were laid out and ready for us. We had so much fun, as you can see from the photos below!
Check out the new moves we learned today, as we met Kieran and were given a brief introduction to karate! It was great fun! We look forward to Sports Day tomorrow, to end a fantastic Active Schools Week!
Active Schools Week is well under way, with lots of activities happening in our school. We enjoyed a penalty shoot-out on Monday with Anita; a parent in our school. Today we joined the rest of the school to dance the Cha Cha slide in our yard, followed by an outdoor disco with lots of dancing! You can spot our class in the video here http://www.citywestetns.ie/news/june-14th-2016
In May, we were learning lots about creatures that live in the sea. We created underwater pictures and made our very own jellyfish. We were very proud of our creations!
We had great fun last week when Martin from Maritial Arts Tallaght came to visit our school. We got a 20 minute session with him in our school hall and we were really put through our paces!
May was all about gymnastics in first class! We have been practicing our balancing skills, tuck jump, forward roll, tuck roll, pencil roll and lots more. Take a look at some of our star jumps!
Last Thursday we went on our school tour to Imaginosity, along with Mary Treasa's class. We spent two hours playing and enjoying all of the different areas; we had a fantastic time! Check out our pictures from the day!
In April, we were very lucky to have Celine teaching us some of our lessons each day. We learned all about the life cycle of the frog, created our own story books, we did dance in P.E., learned about fractions, capacity and 3-D shapes, learned new songs and enjoyed some fun Gaeilge lessons.
We have been doing lots of work on place value in our maths lessons and have been practicing identifying tens and units in each number. We have been using cubes to help us to figure out the answer to some of our maths problems.
For the month of May we will be doing gymnastics in our P.E lessons. We have been practicing our balancing, different types of rolling and have been performing star jumps and tuck jumps. We even watched some videos of gymnasts participating in the Olympics and were very impressed by their skills!
