To coincide with our work around the theme of food, Ruain's mom came into our class to do some fruit & vegetable printing with us.
Here we are discovering the prints that fruit and vegetables make.
Thank you Lindsey for helping us with our learning!
Our role play area for the month of April was The Bakery.
We had lots of fun making wonderful and delicious cakes, breads, muffins and other delicacies. YUM!
As we were playing at the bakery the children started to talk about their birthday parties. Naturally cake and birthdays go hand in hand- so we celebrated lots of birthday parties in our classroom.
Take a look at the pictures.
A birthday cake for the birthday girl!
Another birthday cake.
All celebrating a birthday party together.
We also practiced using our money at the bakery. We had to pay for our cakes and bakes.
A nice follow up activity may be to bake some cakes/buns with your child at home.
As part of our Learn Together curriculum we have been learning about Hinduism.
Our learning was brought to life by all the fantastic resources that we now have in our school. Thank you for your donations and for your contributions to our fundraising events.
Take a look at our Hindu shrine.
Dr. Kumar came to visit us. He spoke to us about Hinduism. He showed us some Hindu art.
If you would like to learn about Hinduism why not check out this website with your child.
We love drama in our class. It is a great opportunity for us to use our imaginations and creativity. We also get an opportunity to use and practice new language and vocabulary in a fun way.
This month we engaged in a drama based on the story Billy's Bucket.
Take a look at our pictures from our drama.
Billy imagined that he saw sea life in his bucket. The red table created a sweet world in their bucket.
The green table created a sea world in their bucket
The blue table and their jungle world.
The yellow table created a Garda station.
We made Top Hats as part of our work in Science. We are excellent bakers.
We first broke the chocolate into a bowl. We then saw the chocolate melt when heat was added. We put the melted chocolate into a cupcake and put a marshmallow in the middle. We then left our Top Hats cool. The chocolate then went hard. It was very interesting.
Why not try them at home?
Breaking up the chocolate into small pieces to melt in the microwave.
Pouring the chocolate into cupcake cases.
We love talking about and imagining the wonderful, mysterious world of space.
We had great fun playing at the Space station and learning about space.
Take a look at our pictures.

Oh no!! The Space Ship broke down on planet Mars. Can we fix it?
We love to read in our classroom.
We celebrated Book week in our school in March. On Thursday 3rd March we dressed up as characters from our favourite books.
Some children choose to read their favourite books to their classmates while other children read in partners and independently.
On Thursday our bell rang and we had DEAR time. This meant that we had to Drop Everything And Read.
Book week was a great week to share our favourite stories and books with our friends.
Why not try having DEAR Time in your home?
There has been a lot of music coming from our classroom door this month as we began recording music in our studio.
We called our recording studio Abbey Road after learning the song: Yellow Submarine by the Beatles.
We are very talented musicians and singers as you will see from the videos below. Enjoy!!!!
This week the boys and girls decided to organise a concert for their classmates. The tickets for the show are quite expensive. You cannot have a seat at the concert without a ticket!
We love when our friends from the other Senior Infant class' come to visit us!
We made homemade musical instruments at the creative area! Look at Olivia's guitar.
A busy studio manager.
A happy audience!
It's show time!!
