Each week, your child will be asked to learn three spellings. The SACAWAC approach to spelling that we have been using in English can be used for Irish, too.
But sometimes it can be difficult for parents to work out how the Irish words should be pronounced. If you are having this difficulty, check out abair.ie, a website designed to help with pronounciation of Irish words.
When you visit the site, click English in the top right corner. Select 'Connemara' (a dialect of Irish which sounds closest to the Irish I generally speak with the children), then type the word/ phrase into the box and click 'Synthesise'. The programme then reads the text aloud. I hope that you will find this helpful.
