This is our Learning at Home Wall. Each week we will focus on a new sound and we will have 10 new spellings. Within the 10 spellings we will focus on 2 tricky words each week also. On this wall Mary Treasa has included other ideas on how we can further our learning at home. As we have been learning a lot about Autumn we have been looking out for signs and colours of Autumn on our way to school and on our way home. We have also been collecting conkers, leaves, berries and fruit for our nature table!
Today we had a "Mad Hatter Day". On Thursday we created hats during art. However some of us also created wonderful hats at home. We hope you enjoy the pictures. The ECHO newspaper even came to our classroom to take some pictures of us in our crazy Hats!! we had a lot of FUN!!
We have been listening to a lot of Gaeilge this month. This week we are learning about Bia which means Food! The words we heard in this video are ispíní (sausages) cairéid (carrots) sicín (chicken) subh (jam)! We have also been learning how to say "Is maith liom" which means "I like..." and "Ní maith liom" which means "I don't like".
This week we started using our new BUN GO BARR Gaeilge books. We are really enjoying using the books and practising our Gaeilge everyday. So far we have looked at 2 themes Mé Féin (Myself) and Bia (Food). We will take great care of the books for next years first class!!
LUNCH TIME BUDDIES!! During the school term we may not get to sit beside our best friends all the time. Instead we can play with our friends on yard or in first class we now eat our lunches with our buddies. We are free to move to another area in the room and eat our lunch with our friends. We always make sure that everyone has a buddy to sit with. This is an important time of the day where we can build on our friendships and social skills. It also ensures that everyone is happy and ready to learn for the rest of the day!
We have been enjoying painting in art. First we used our pencils to draw an Autumn scene. Then we chose Autumn colours for our paintings. Afterwards we took some time to look and respond to each others work!
