On the last day of school before our mid term break some children dressed up to celebrate Halloween. We had a lot of fun looking at each others costumes and outfits. We also had a visit from some of Orla's class that day too! have a look at our pictures!!
During Maths Week we integrated maths with our art lesson and we created SHAPE MONSTERS!! We also worked in groups to create a shape project! Second class were visiting us on Friday and they also created shape monsters with us! Look at all the shapes we used to make our shape monsters-rectangles, squares, circles, triangles, semi-circles! We really enjoyed maths week 2015!!!
We made a number line in first class this week. We each had a card with a number on it and we had to find our place in the number line. It was also an opportunity to practice our maths language such as before and after and ordinal numbers..Who is first/second/third/last in the number line?
We worked together in pairs to practice adding. As you look through the pictures you will notice that "Kitty" also joined in during Maths Week. We enjoyed taking turns and practising using our number line!
Look at first class using their MATHS EYES in the classroom. Each day we used our maths eyes to find as many connections as we could between our classroom and MATHS. We came up with a long list!!
-our hundred square
-how many books are in the library?
-how many leaves are on the nature table?
-maths signs on our maths wall.
The list was endless. Ask your child to use their maths eyes as part of home learning and see how many connections they can make. We realised that maths is EVERYWHERE!!!
