Snails galore have invaded Lisa's classroom! We must have at least 40 snails on the windowsill now! Today, we had great fun creating snails with clay! We were learning to roll the clay, pinch the clay and smooth out any wrinkles or creases in the clay! Our hands and tables were extremely messy but we got it all cleaned up. Take a look at a few snaps below!
Oh what a magnificent month! We have done lots of super learning, had buckets of fun and we even elected a new representative for our the student council. Take a look at what has been happening in Lisa's Second Class below. An Election for Student Council Firstly, we had a great discussion on what the student council was and what characteristics we wanted to see in our class representative! We then chatted through how our election would take place fairly and democratically. Next, those who wished to go forward for election, got to work, thinking and writing about what they would they say in their speeches! When we were all set, children courageously spoke in front of their classmates! We were so proud of each other! Once we had heard from everyone, it was time to vote. It was so tense in the room. Next, Lisa announced the winner. Gaja was our brand new student representative. She was delighted!!! We congratulated her and Gaja thanked everyone! Well done Gaja! Why do some things sink and some things float? For science, we were wondering about why some things float and other things sink. We chatted about why we thought that some things float and we shared lots of our thoughts with each other. We thought about different materials, different shapes and examples in the real world. Next, we made predictions as scientists on whether certain objects would sink or float and we recorded this information in our copies. We then tested out the objects. We were really surprised about some of the objects. We chatted about density. We learned that objects that are more dense than water sink and those less dense float. |
