An Update from Orla's class
Mid-term break is here - what a quick two months it has been in Junior Infants!
Due to new GDPR rules, we had to obtain new photograph permissions for our website, but we are now back in business! Here is a glimpse of some of our learning in September and October.

Fine motor skills: We have been doing lots of work to develop our fine motor skills - cutting, using peg boards, connecting games, practicing our pencil grip, using play-doh.
Colour: We focused on colour in September. We played lots of games based on colour - naming, sorting, matching, finding the odd one out. We set up a colour table and went on a hunt around our classroom every morning for objects that belonged. Some days our clothes even matched!
Jolly Phonics: We started learning our sounds in October. So far, we know 11 sounds - s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, e, h, r and m. Check out Jolly Phonics on Youtube to hear the Jolly Song for each sound. With each new sound, we try to think of words beginning or ending with that sound. We hunt around our classroom for the new sound and we have started to practice writing some of them. When Stephanie and Deirdre come in to work with us, we practice again in small groups and play lots of phonics games.
We have settled really well into life in Citywest ETNS! We go to P.E. on Mondays and Thursdays in the hall, we have visited the school library and relaxed on the beanbags, we go to Assembly on Fridays, we do Play Rota every day, we have learned lots of songs and rhymes, we have done some painting... the list goes on! Check back soon to see more of what we have been learning!
