We have amazing news! Our incubator project has been a great success. Four of our eggs hatched last Thursday and now we have four chicks in our class. They are beautiful and we love having them in our classroom. We are watching them grow and learn everyday and other classes and students in our school have come to visit. Our chicks will live with us until Thursday and then they will head back to the farm to join the rest of their flock. Have a look through our photos. We named each of our chicks. See if you can spot each one from their descriptions: Oreo is black, Shadow Choco is black and yellow, Flappy is yellow with a ginger back and Yolkie is a lighter yellow colour.

We had such a fun experience in the middle of March. We got to do a real archaeological dig in our school! The Big Dig archaeologists brought in a Viking house full of artefacts for us to discover. The archaeologists taught us how an archaeological site is set up and how to use the digging tools. We discovered so many interesting artefacts and learned more about how Viking people lived. It was a super experience! Egg Incubator ProjectWe've had a very EGG-citing week. Our class is taking part in an incubator project from Nore Valley farm. Farmer John visited our classroom on Tuesday to deliver 7 chicken eggs and an incubator. We are currently incubating the eggs in our classroom. After 21 days, we are hoping that some or all of the eggs will hatch. We will get to look after the chickens in our classroom for a week before they go back to the farm. We are very excited. We have started keeping a science journal to record our observations. We have noticed that the incubator turns every hour to make sure that the eggs are warmed evenly. Swimming We started our swimming lessons on Friday and loved it! We got the bus there and back and enjoyed meeting our swimming teachers and getting in the pool. We are looking forward to next Friday. Mother Tongue WeekWe celebrated International Mother Language Day on Tuesday 21st of February. We had a visitor to our classroom, Susana, who read us stories in three languages; Spanish, Catalan and German. It was wonderful to hear some other languages and it inspired us to read and speak to each other in different languages sometimes.

We drew some realistic robins and shaded them using colouring pencils. We also painted some wonderful bird silhouettes at sunrise. Maths! We've done loads of maths! Check out some highlights below. The Stone Age!We loved learning about the Stone Age! We worked together on projects and created some amazing Cave Art by staining paper and using pastels underneath our table caves! Judith from Biodiversity Ireland came to visit us and talked to us about biodiversity and how we can help look after our school and planet. She brought us outside and showed us some biodiversity in our school garden. After that, we were inspired to help out with our Green School ambitions and went outside to do some litter picking. Halloween! We enjoyed learning about the festival of Halloween during history and learn together. We learned about the origins of Halloween and how it is similar to other festivals.
